Our Academy is one which is lead by its values and high expectations of every person, child or adult, who are part of community.
We are a Church of England Primary School which is part of the DNEAT Academy Trust. We serve the community of Shipdham and the surrounding villages with a single form entry for children aged 4 to 11.
Our school prides itself on maintaining strong Christian values in addition to our four cultural strands. Through these, we encourage and enable all children and adults to conduct themselves in a way that helps to keep each other happy and safe as well as experiencing life beyond the school curriculum.
We have a wonderful team of teachers and teaching assistants who motivate children to maintain high standards in their learning. Over the past three years, our school has been at least at the national average standard and last year we achieved standards above the national average for Reception children, Phonics in year 1 and SATs in years 2 and 6 - all of the governments main measures.
Our school is a safe, fun and happy environment for all. We combine excellent teaching with many events throughout the year from amazing residential and day trips to performances at various events for our musicians and sports teams. Almost every week includes an exciting event for the children. With the help of the local Thomas Bullock Trust we are able to provide free music tuition. They also provide a significant contribution to our school trips, with many of them being completely free of charge to families.
We have excellent outdoor resources. Our huge sports field contains a trim trail, peace garden, science learning zone which includes a pond and chickens. We have also developed a Forest Schools zone which includes a young forest of over 400 trees! In the summer we hold a summer fete and the always popular sports day where the four house teams compete and have lots of fun.
Our highly active Friends of Shipdham School team raise thousands of pounds every year. They provide regular entertainment events for children and the community from discos and parties to Christmas events, bingo, quiz nights, a local shop plus much more.
We have built strong relationships with the parents and local community. We operate an open door policy so it is possible to see one of the teaching team without notice but we also include the usual parents evenings and reports as well as providing parents with secure access to their child's performance records online. The success we have achieved over the past few years is certainly down to the combined efforts of parents and teachers.
We are all proud of what has been achieve at Thomas Bullock Primary over the years and we will continue to develop and improve providing children with the skills and knowledge that will enable them to make choices about what they want their future to be.
