We have chosen to use the Power Maths published scheme to support our teaching of maths. The scheme provides a clear progression of learning to help children acquire the skills, knowledge and understanding required to meet the expectations within the National Curriculum. This allows us to be very clear in how we build on prior learning and support the children to make good progress in their learning.
We have supported our teaching staff with a range of training and development opportunities so that they can make effective use of the published scheme to support the children’s learning. While the published scheme is designed to support the workload of teachers, we still use a range of other resources to meet the individual needs of the children and enrich the learning experience.
The plans published on this site show a starting point for planning for most children. We use both formative and summative assessment to analyse what our children need to learn. Where there are particular concepts that the children have struggled to grasp we adapt our medium term plans to revisit these ideas and spend more time in lessons to secure learning.
