SEND Support during School Closure

SEND support during school closures

As part of the school closures, we are still here to support your child’s SEND needs. Your first point of contact about work will be through your class teacher who can support you with making sure the work is accessible, just as they would in the classroom.

As this time of home learning is progressing, more resources have been made freely available. The government have collated a list of resources and categorised them in subjects and age groups, which can be found here: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/coronavirus-covid-19-online-education-resources/coronavirus-covid-19-list-of-online-education-resources-for-home-education

You might recognise some of these as we have been using some of them for our home learning already. If you would like to know which ones of these are appropriate for the needs of your child, please contact their class teacher.

If you are interested in exploring your child’s sensory needs, there are some great ideas here: http://www.thesensoryprojects.co.uk/covid19-resources

If you are looking for some emotional support the ELSA webpage has some lovely ideas on it. https://www.elsa-support.co.uk/category/free-resources/coronavirus-support/

If the unthinkable happens and you suffer bereavement I have a host of resources which I can share with you.

I am also available to contact if you require support with more specific needs, or to find out how the usual SEND processes are happening at this unusual time. I am also here to listen if you need someone to talk to or need pointing in the direction of other support. We are all working hard to find new ways of working in this strange situation, and with good communication we can support each other and learn together!

This page will be a work in progress if you find anything that you think will support other parents please let me know.

Please contact me using my Mrs Ives ClassDojo.

Thank you, and keep in touch,

Mrs Ives.
